I get a lot of funny looks and raised eyebrows from people when I tell them that last year  I have switched from teaching kindergarten and Grade 1 at the DLC to teaching high school. Everyone can lower those eyebrows, though. I am doing fine and enjoying the new position. This is just one change in a list of many in my life.

After completing a bachelor of science from the University of Saskatchewan and then a diploma in print journalism, I worked as a reporter in Humboldt and Meadow Lake. Then I had the opportunity to move closer to home – I grew up near Christopher Lake – and work as a reporter and then editor at the Prince Albert Daily Herald.

After nine years in journalism, I decided to switch career paths and enrolled in SUNTEP. I am now in my 12th year as a teacher. Before this year, I had taught students who were in kindergarten to Grade 6. This year my teaching portfolio includes English Language Arts, Practical and Applied Arts, Media Studies, Digital Literacy and Wellness. I continue to love what I do and look forward to whatever new opportunities are on the horizon.

I live in Prince Albert with my son, Luthar, and our cat, Snubby.
